Four Lighten-Gale Group clients received tax credit allocations from Chicago’s Department of Housing (DOH) for their 2007 tax credit round. Lighten-Gale Group assisted with the underwriting and submission of all four applications. The successful applicants are:

A joint venture of Source Works Development and a non-profit affiliate of the Apostolic Church received both a tax credit allocation and loan commitment for its 90-unit Hancock House project. This new construction project will serve independent seniors in the 34th Ward.
Safeway Construction received a tax credit award for its Keeler Apartments project, a 26-unit rehab of a vacant building on the corner of Keeler and Roosevelt Road. The 26 units will serve low income individuals and families as well as provide renovated first floor commercial space.
The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago received both an allocation for tax credits and a loan commitment for a rehab of its 292 room SRO in the Austin community. This supportive housing project serves the formerly homeless and individuals at risk of homelessness.
A joint venture of Lawndale Christian Development Corporation , Safeway Construction, and Westside Federation of Chicago received an allocation for the Dr. Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King Jr. Apartments. This will be an 80-unit new construction project serving families and grand-families in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood.

Congratulations to all four and thanks to DOH for recognizing the talents of these developers.
